Day by day we are hearing rape stories form all over India. Gang rapes, secret rape anyway after the raping the victims are either killed or they probably not getting justice from the authorities. So why humans became so ugly and cruel.
Statistics showing the rape is more in the northern states of India. Especially in Madhya Pradesh, West Bangal and Uttar Pradesh. Rape means a type of sexual assault involving sexual intercourse or other forms sexual penetration initiated against one or more individuals without the permission of those individuals. Usually IPC section 375, 376 etc. are using against rape cases.
Many theories are there for raping, like Biological theory, Commodification theory, Developmental theory, Control theory etc. Some are raping for sexual interest, some for revenge, some have psychological problems. Some people say the female body exploit is the reason for sexual crime. But what about 6 month old female child ? We cannot count all these men have mental problems. But the situation cannot be controlled up to some extent by present social and media situation in India. Rapes are found more in socially and educationally backward communities. One may think that the rape is increasing nowadays only. But that is not true. The reporting efficiency and competition among media companies are more today. They want block buster news. Sex issues are evergreen news for the media as the people interest is more in this subjects. But moreover they were not interested in follow up. Sometimes fake cases also count and and report by media. But the all blames are not going to media only.
In this situation it is better to think about how to control it?
Increasing the punishment for Rape will not decrease rapists. Most punished countries for rapes are Muslim countries. There also crimes against women never decreasing. Counselling could help to reduce rape. Finding these kind psychic people and unavailability of facility are the feedback for better counselling. So what is the better choice to solve this issue?
Better suggestion for reducing rape may be increase the punishment, counselling centres and starting Prostitution centres by the Government. Where the sex workers must be come by their own willing and facility to tests for sexually transmitted diseases frequently. Governments should start Counselling centres associated with Hospitals (like VCTC for HIV) and they should refer rapists who need sex treatment to these centres. In this case one may think that this kind of practises are against Indian culture and custom. But think; a little sacrifice in our custom will save many of lives and virginity of our sisters.
